On Saturday, October 18, the Children’s and Youth Choruses of Greater Dallas will perform their second annual concert in Mesquite honoring local composer Dede Duson. Tickets are free but necessary for a seat. “Earth and Sky” celebrates the beauty of the changing season with music by Dede Duson, Ron Nelson, Benjamin Britten and Samuel Barber with Native American texts and texts by Gwen Frostic, Thomas Ahlburn, and Walter de la Mere, and more. The concert is sponsored by the Dede Duson Endowment as designated by Jean Rogers Winchell and by the Mesquite Arts Council. The nationally recognized Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas is well-known for its beautiful, pure sound and artistry; they have performed at such well-known venues as Carnegie Hall and St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. The Youth Chorus, composed of the best high-school age singers from across the Metroplex, is newer but already recognized as one of the best mixed choruses in the region.
The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas organization includes five choruses for singers from 4th through 12th grades, including three professional-quality touring choirs. The choruses are admired by directors and musicians across the U.S., who have invited them to sing at Carnegie Hall and St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican and with groups such as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Bach Society, and the Dallas Wind Symphony.

Our 8th annual Fall Craft Fair and Carnival is a great family activity for the day. From 9:00-3:00, come enjoy children's games, bounce house, horse rides, chess tournament, book fair and other activities. Parents will enjoy getting ahead of their holiday shopping by visiting the booth vendors. Dallas Cowboy Bowen will be signing autographs.
