***For Loud and Local submissions, you may use the upload form on the Loud and Local page (which tends to be fickle). If you would like to send an mp3, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE send it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Sending mp3s to my kegl email locks it up and makes me appear incompetent to my co-workers. A seemingly incompetent Angela is a cranky Angela! However, if you really want to make me happy, you can send a CD. This way, I can keep it at my desk and easily add tracks at any time!***
My first crush:
Then I realized he was prettier than me and moved on.
I frequent cemeteries.
My job helps me meet the best looking men!!!
Duff McKagan is like fine wine.
I enhance my credibility by looking tortured. (Shutterkings Photography)
Slash and I share a common interest.
I like to clean up around the office. It keeps me down-to-earth when I get to meet people who are exceptionally cooler than I am. Please see below.
Freaker's Ball 2008 with Snot
After cutting off his own head, a decapitated Jeremy from Five Finger Death Punch was seeking medical attention!
I was so excited to meet Duff McKagan that I clipped a concrete column while trying to park my car...which still had dealer tags, BUT I did get this little beauty!!!!
Yes! That is Maynard!!!! Elusive, but we used our womanly ways to get him on camera!!!! Ha! Ha!
Freaker's Ball 2009! Look who I found backstage!!!! It's William Duvall of Alice in Chains!!! Where's Jerry, dammit???
Lzzy Hale from Halestorm! Played Freaker's 2009...will be at BFD 2012!
Since the attempt to rename Birmingham's airport after Ozzy Osbourne went ker-plunk, a new campaign has been launched to knight Ozzy. Sir John "Ozzy" Osbourne sounds dignified enough (he might even have to Roman numeral it), but I doubt it will happen. I just can't imagine putting the Prince of Darkness in the playpen along with Charles, William, and especially Harry.
Hmmm, this move could be giving lead singers a bad name. Or maybe, they're trying to take the emphasis off the frontman as the face of the band. Maybe they're a bunch of dudes with a "been there, done that" attitude about music...whatever the circumstances, Duff McKagan (GN'R, VR), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), and Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees) have decided to work on an album which will feature a myriad of singers. Sounds familiar...like Slash's first album. The band is still unnamed and there is not a release date on the album...that all depends on the singers! ;) More here.
McKagan, McCready, and Martin perform "Voodoo Child" in Seattle
Tommy Lee is putting the brakes on the high price Motley Crue fans must pay to meet the band by removing himself from the equation. Motley Crue is currently touring in Australia, where fans must pay $899 for a VIP Meet and Greet package. Lee said,"it's got nothing to do with me not wanting to meet the fans. I just don't agree with doing it under the certain given circumstances." If you happen to cross paths with Tommy Lee, he says he'll gladly high-five ya! More here.
U.S. Navy Veteran Ron White has memorized the names of 2200 soldiers who fell in Afghanistan. White wrote those names on a make-shift wall in Downtown Fort Worth, by memory, on Thursday. The wall will not remain, but White plans to pay tribute in other cities.
According to Weiland, the STP contract states that the name Stone Temple Pilots cannot be used unless Weiland is in the band. A publicity stunt to sell STP tix doesn't make sense to me, but Scott has a solo tour coming up...I bet this gossip will spread the word and boost Weiland's solo sales...what do you think? I'm just glad it's not a Scott Weiland sex tape!
Check out the commercial for this year's rock awards show, the Golden Gods! The ceremony will feature live performances from the above named artists, plus Metallica, Dillinger Escape Plan (and more TBA)!
First they made wine, then it seems they figured their fans might want beer instead! Want your own pint of German-Australian beer (it was brewed in accordance with the German purity law of 1516)? Click the link!
The focal points of the JFK assassination tend to be: Dallas, Parkland, Dealey Plaza, but did you know that JFK spent his last night on the western side of the Metroplex in Fort Worth? In 1963, Kennedy was booked at The Hotel Texas. Today, The Hotel Texas is the downtown Hilton. Kennedy stayed on the 8th floor in suite 850. How do I know this? Jim Douglas from WFAA.com.
