Rob was a friend to so many. I know you all have your own unique stories to share, and I hope you will. Here's mine: I met Rob at a Cult concert, he was a true music fan. He could speak intelligently about it, he supported it, and it was obvious that he drew great pleasure from simply talking about it...but it wasn't Rob's love of music that made him so magnetic (that was just the icing on the cake). It was his truly kind and generous soul. If Rob was visible in the room, I was filled with delight. I'm certain I left many conversations mid-sentence to sprint to Rob for a bear hug. He was just that kind of guy!
The last time I saw Rob was in December. He had come to the Show Us Your Cans food drive in Addison. Not only did he donate money, he was the first to begin bids on the guitars...(and he purchased a CD or two). Of couse, this was secondary to offering the lady a shot (always his favorite, Rumpleminze), and attempting to rally the troops to join the cause.
Although I will miss seeing Rob, it feels quite lucky to carry such a pleasant, last memory. I offer my sincerest condolences to Rob's family and his many friends.
