On rapper Jay-Z's new album in the song "Versus," he makes fun of other rappers for constantly bragging about how much money they make.

"The truth in my verses, versus, your metaphors about what your net worth is," Jay-Z raps.

Business Week checked into it, and it turns out that a lot of rappers claim to make much more money in their songs than they actually do.

For example, on the 2011 Lil Wayne track "Ballin'," he rapped, "Last year I made $100 million flat."

In 2010, Forbes reported he actually made $20 million.

On Pitbull's recent song "Feel This Moment," he rapped, "Now make dollars, I mean billions, I'm a genius, I mean brilliant."

Last year, Pitbull make closer to $10 million.
